Season 3 begins with the Walter family anxiously awaiting news about George’s treatment after he was rushed to the hospital at the end of Season 2. With George—the family’s longtime source of stability—suddenly sidelined, everyday life in the Walter household begins to change dramatically.

Meanwhile, the relationship between Jackie, Cole, and Alex is also reaching a major turning point. While still holding onto her goal of attending Princeton, Jackie works tirelessly to create a community space where young people in Silver Falls can gather.

Cole discovers the world of drag racing and begins to find a new goal for the first time since he lost his place on the football team. Meanwhile, Alex throws himself into rodeo while coming to terms with the life he truly wants to live.

In addition, changes are coming to the Walter family itself, including the return of George’s sister Hannah, the siblings’ college admissions, and new jobs and challenges. Season 3 is a season of “growth,” in which the characters not only navigate romance but also take their first steps toward new chapters in their lives.

*Please note that the following contains spoilers for the Season 3 finale.

How the Season 3 Ending Sets Up Season 4 [Spoilers]
  • Jackie and Cole: They acknowledge their feelings for each other and officially become a couple. However, when Richard—concerned about Jackie’s grades—asks Cole to distance himself from her, Cole deliberately pushes Jackie away and ends their relationship because he does not want to stand in the way of her future.
  • Alex: After talking things through with Jackie, the two admit that they had been trying too hard to make their relationship work and reconcile. Alex tells Cole to make Jackie happy and continues to support the two of them. Meanwhile, after growing exhausted from constantly trying to fit in with those around him, Alex decides to leave the Hartford rodeo team.
  • The Walter Family: George survives and gradually recovers through rehabilitation. After facing such a major crisis together, the Walter family emerges with even stronger bonds. Hannah also confronts her relationship with her sons and ultimately chooses her own way of loving and supporting Isaac and Lee.
  • Jackie and Cole’s Relationship: Encouraged by Alex and his parents, Cole decides to talk to Jackie and face their unresolved relationship. Jackie also begins worrying about Cole after learning that he was the one who arranged to have the leak at the community space repaired.
  • Eliot and Jackie: After Jackie and Cole break up, Jackie grows closer to Eliot. Near the end of the season, Eliot kisses her, but Jackie’s response to the unexpected kiss is left unresolved, setting up another storyline for Season 4.
  • Final Scene: Cole tries to leave dangerous street racing behind and make a fresh start as a drag racer. However, after pulling out of a race at the last minute, he angers his opponent, who chases him down and rams his car, causing Cole to crash. Season 3 ends without revealing his condition.

Before Season 3 premiered, showrunner and executive producer Melanie Halsall told Netflix Tudum that Jackie could not keep going back and forth between the two boys. Season 3 ultimately delivers on that idea, with Jackie, Cole, and Alex each confronting their feelings and their relationship reaching a major turning point.

Season 4 is likely to focus first on Cole’s condition and the unresolved relationship involving Jackie, Cole, and Eliot. Other storylines left open in Season 3—including Kiley, Dylan, and Alex, as well as Danny and Erin and Richard and Tara—will also be worth watching as the story continues.

Growth and the Many Forms of Love in My Life with the Walter Boys Season 3

Jackie | Learning to Enjoy Not Just the Future, but the “Present” Too

While continuing to pursue her goal of attending Princeton, Jackie also devotes her efforts to establishing a community space where the young people of Silver Falls can gather.

Romance, school, track and field, and contributing to the community. While her determination to excel at everything remains unchanged, in Season 3 she gradually learns to “enjoy the moment.”

Rather than just running forward with her eyes fixed on the future, Jackie has begun to find a balance that works for her—allowing herself to relax and unwind from time to time—and this can certainly be seen as a major step in her personal growth.

Cole | Finding a New Purpose in Drag Racing

Ever since losing the future he once imagined through football, Cole has struggled to find a new direction. That begins to change when Mac recognizes his natural talent behind the wheel.

After his first race, Cole feels such an intense sense of freedom that he wishes time could stop right there. Drag racing becomes more than a new hobby—it is the first thing since football that gives him something to fully throw himself into.

Although he briefly veers toward dangerous street racing, he gets back on track after hearing what Mac has to say. For Cole, Season 3 is also a story about finding a new goal in life—one that isn’t just a replacement for the dream he lost.

Alex | Refusing to Lose Himself Just to Fit In

A scene from Season 3 of “My Life with the Walter Boys” showing a man wearing a cowboy hat and standing in the back of a truck on a ranch

While throwing himself into rodeo, Alex tries desperately to fit in with teammates who are very different from him. But constantly giving in to the pressure to conform and pretending to be someone he is not gradually takes a toll on him.

Rodeo feels like the only thing Alex has left to devote himself to. Even so, he ultimately chooses to leave the Hartford rodeo team rather than keep compromising who he is just to fit in.

Alex also comes to terms with Jackie and Cole’s relationship and begins supporting them rather than standing in their way. Beyond romance, his journey toward reclaiming his sense of self becomes one of Season 3’s most meaningful character arcs.

The Walter Family's Bonds Grow Stronger Through Adversity

In Season 3, the Walter family is thrown into turmoil by George’s sudden illness. With one of the family’s central figures suddenly sidelined, the ordinary rhythm of life at the Walter home is turned upside down.

Even after leaving the hospital, George cannot immediately return to his normal life, while Katherine, Will, and the rest of the family remain anxious about another health crisis. As George gradually recovers, however, the familiar liveliness begins to return to the family dinner table.

Meanwhile, the siblings are reaching a stage in life where school, careers, and new opportunities begin taking them away from home. With Danny proposing to Erin and Nathan heading out on a European tour, the season captures the bittersweet feeling of watching family members branch out while emphasizing the bonds that continue to hold the Walters together.

The Many Forms of Love at the Heart of Season 3

Throughout Season 3, love takes many different forms.

The Walter family’s love for one another, as they try to support each other after George’s collapse. Jackie and Cole, who are deeply drawn to each other yet consider the other’s future. Alex, who still harbors feelings for Jackie but wishes her happiness and supports her relationship with Cole. And Richard, who, because he cares so deeply for Jackie, becomes strict in an effort to protect her future.

Furthermore, Hannah's story illustrates that loving someone and being with that person are not necessarily the same thing.

Standing beside someone, letting them go, encouraging them forward, or supporting them from afar—each takes a different form. Throughout Season 3, the characters’ choices are repeatedly shaped by the people they care about most.

Summary

Season 3 of the popular Netflix coming-of-age drama "My Life with the Walter Boys" has been streaming on Netflix since August 6, 2026.

Picking up immediately after the Season 2 finale, this season not only features major shifts in the relationships between Jackie, Cole, and Alex, but also depicts the growth of each character: Cole, who discovers a new path in drag racing; Alex, who strives to rediscover his true self; and Jackie, who begins to look toward the future of Silver Falls.

Furthermore, through George’s crisis, Hannah’s return, and the brothers’ new challenges, this season offers a compelling portrayal of the evolving Walter family—and, amidst it all, the enduring bonds that remain unchanged.
