Volume 8 of BORUTO: TWO BLUE VORTEX introduces a new contract between Boruto and Momoshiki. BORUTO -TWO BLUE VORTEX- Volume 8 Synopsis

Boruto makes a promise to Momoshiki, the Otsutsuki who exists as one with him. In exchange for Momoshiki's help, Boruto would surrender his body if he could defeat Jura of the Hitoshinjyu.
Boruto, who is now able to freely use Momoshiki's power in this way, defeats the ever-increasing number of insects (pit vipers) in search of Eida, one after another. Kawaki and Sarada also work hard to exterminate the insects, but even so, they multiply beyond their control.
Meanwhile, Shikamaru, the acting Hokage in command of the extermination team, is summoned for questioning by Kobu, a representative of the Fire Daimyo. When Kobu refuses to budge even after being told that the village is in danger, Kashin Koji makes a move.
Using a Gama Kobun he had hidden with Shikamaru, Kashin Koji had Inojin perform a mind-transfiguration technique on him. He then ordered Inojin to kill Kobu as he was.

When the number of insects has grown too large to get anywhere, Shikamaru instructs them to lead the insects to Eida. Boruto immediately sets out for Eida with a large number of insects in tow.
At that point, Boruto advised that he should be defeated by Eida's brother Daemon. The insect then smiles wryly, saying that he knows Daemon well.
To Boruto's surprise, Eida explained that it was because of the bug's own memories (trauma) and that the instincts of the Hitoshinjyu made it recall them. Finally, a swarm of bugs appeared and Daemon knocked them down one after another.
Boruto and the rest of the extermination team followed suit, and finally there were less than 50 insects left. Sarada's Mangekyo Sharingan, Ohirume, was supposed to round up all the insects, but she was unable to activate Ohirume and fell down.

Boruto's Contract and Its Price
Boruto's dealings with Otsutsuki Momoshiki have greatly enhanced each of his abilities.
Cho Odama Rasengan
This is the first time Boruto uses Cho Odama Rasengan on his own. Until now, Boruto has not been able to use it due to the amount of chakra.
Byakugan
The possibility that Boruto's right eye was a Byakugan was once considered. However, after it was examined by the Hyuga clan, no signs of a Byakugan were found. It was later revealed that Boruto's right eye is actually a Jogan. (Anime Episodes 9–10 *External link.)
Therefore, Boruto's Byakugan is thought to activate not because his Jogan has disappeared, but when he is moving under Momoshiki's power or consciousness. Since the Byakugan has nearly 360-degree vision, clairvoyance, and telescopic sight, there is no doubt that it can be used in many offensive and defensive ways depending on how it is combined. Hiraishin no Jutsu
Boruto's Hiraishin no Jutsu is a modified version of the Fourth Hokage Minato Namikaze's technique. It is more restrictive than that of the fourth Hokage, Namikaze Minato, and flies by sensing the metal object to which chakra has been granted. At a distance, it is necessary to image the shape of the metal object to which it is granted.
By combining this technique with the Byakugan, Boruto can teleport more accurately and efficiently to locations within his field of vision.
The Cost
Boruto is now free to use Momoshiki's mighty power, but in exchange, he promises to surrender his body to Momoshiki. The condition is ”if he can defeat Jura,” at which time Boruto will surrender his body to Momoshiki.
Inojin and Sarada's Abilities
Inojin
In the 30th episode of "Boruto -Two Blue Vortex-," Inojin used the mind-transfer technique to take over the spirit of Kobu, who was in Hokage Yashiki. At this time, Inojin is at the base of Kashin Koji on the outskirts of the Land of the Wind, which means that he has traveled a tremendous distance.
However, since Inojin's body did not actually move, it is as if the mental energy moved through space-time. Perhaps this was done via the gama-kobun, which is a chakra-dwelling and moving gama-kobun.
In any case, the fact that Inojin was able to pull off such a huge feat on the spur of the moment is a glimpse of his high potential.
Sarada
Sarada's Mangekyo Sharingan, Ohirume, is a powerful jutsu, but the price to pay is a concern. This is only the third time that Sarada has activated Dainichi Amateru as of episode 32 of "Boruto -TWO BLUE VORTEX-".
However, Sarada's vision became blurry after its second use while protecting civilians. This is probably the fate of the Mangekyo Sharingan, which causes vision loss, but the speed of that decline seems unusually fast.
In exchange for the great power of Sarada's Ohirume, it is possible that the speed of vision loss may be faster. If so, there may be only a few times left when Sarada can use Ohirume.
Hitoshinjyu Inherit the Memories of Their Originals
In episode 32 of "Boruto -TWO BLUE VORTEX-," when Boruto took the Bug to Eida, the Bugs were well aware of Daemon's ability. Mamushi appears to have inherited the memories of his original, the elderly Bug.
Eida's explanation reveals new characteristics of Hitoshinjyu.
- It could be due to the body's own memories (trauma).
- The instinct of Hitoshinjyu reminds us of this.
A similar example can be found in the interaction between Matsuri and Konohamaru in Chapters 19-20. Their exchange over the nickname “Konohamaru-chan” may suggest that Hitoshinjyu can be influenced by memories inherited from their originals.
Not yet understanding what love is, Matsuri judged the feelings of wanting Konohamaru that arose within him and the sensation that he was going crazy to be dangerous. As a result, she comes to see Konohamaru as a threat and attempts to devour him.
Those emotions may have been triggered by memories inherited from Moegi, the person Matsuri was created from.
Thus, if by some chance the Hitoshinjyu inherits the original memories, the situation may change drastically. For example, if Hidari, the original of Sarada's father Sasuke, remembers that he loved Sarada, a different future will come, and so on.
In fact, the future that Kashin Koji previously saw in the Juppo showed Hidari and Sarada communicating with each other. Besides, Hidari has a Rinnegan, which could be a means of preventing Sarada from going blind.

Currently serialized in V Jump, the 34th episode was published in the July 2026 issue of V Jump.

Realizing that simply serving as a communicator through Shindenshin no Jutsu would not be enough, Inojin decided to take action himself. He went to the battlefield himself, using Kashin's Gyakudenyose no Jutsu, and applied the Shin Denshin no Jutsu to the insects.
Inojin invaded the insect's psyche and imagined crushing both of Daemon's eyes. Daemon's reflection then crushes the eyes of both Inojin and the insect.
The insects vanished at once, leaving behind a Togedama. Boruto took it in his hand and the extermination team returned to the Konoha no sato.
Inojin's sight is restored by Himawari's power, and Sarada, who collapsed on the battlefield, wakes up.
There, Sarada was told by Sakura that the more she used the kaleidoscope, the more her eyesight would deteriorate and she would eventually go blind. Nevertheless, Sarada's mind was made up and she accepted the fate of the kaleidoscope eye to help Boruto.
Meanwhile, Boruto, who has the thorny soul of a bug, goes to the base of the Ten Tails to help the bug. There, he finds Code, who is after Boruto's life.
Kawaki, who was accompanying Boruto, is summoned to the laboratory by Amado through his toad henchman.

Summary｜Contract with Momoshiki changed Boruto's destiny.
In "BORUTO -TWO BLUE VORTEX-" volume 8, Boruto has gained new powers through a contract with Momoshiki. However, in return, he also bears the heavy fate of surrendering his body after defeating Jura.
As expected of Boruto, it is unlikely that he has not already considered the consequences of this contract. However, it remains unclear what he plans to do after defeating Jura. As Momoshiki himself pointed out, perhaps Boruto is placing his faith in Kawaki.
If that is true, then the battle scene between Boruto and Kawaki at the beginning of BORUTO: NARUTO NEXT GENERATIONS may actually have been Momoshiki versus Kawaki.
In addition, a number of important foreshadowing events related to future developments, such as Inojin's growth, the cost of Sarada's Mangekyo Sharingan, and the possibility of the Hitoshinjyu inheriting the memories of its original, were also depicted.
